Man arrested after teenager is attacked outside Nando’s in Guildford

A man has been arrested after a teenage girl was assaulted outside Nando’s in Guildford earlier this evening (4 July). The girl was outside the restaurant in Friary Street around 6.15pm when she was attacked. She has been taken to hospital. The suspect was detained shortly afterwards and is currently in police custody. Inspector Andy Skoglund, who is overseeing the initial investigation, said: “We have launched a full investigation following this assault and used multiple resources to ensure a swift arrest. The attack took place in a busy area and a lot of people would have seen what happened. We would like to reassure people that this was not a random attack and that we believe the suspect and the victim are known to each other. “We are also asking anyone who has not already provided a statement to come forward as soon as possible.” Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact us on 101 as a matter of urgency, quoting incident reference PR/P19150265.
