A major emergency response was launched on Sunday afternoon following reports of a gas leak on Kilburn High Road in northwest London.
London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed they were called at 3.23pm on Sunday, 21 July to NW6, where multiple people had been affected.
A LAS spokesperson said:
“We sent a number of resources to the scene including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team.
We treated eight patients at the scene and took four of them to hospital.”
Emergency services, including the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police, were also in attendance. Cordons were set up along Kilburn High Road as specialist crews worked to isolate the gas source and ventilate the affected area.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the gas leak is currently under investigation. Local businesses and homes in the immediate vicinity were evacuated as a precaution.
Members of the public were urged to avoid the area during the emergency, and transport routes through Kilburn were briefly disrupted.
