Drivers faced a nightmare morning on the A13 after a massive nine-vehicle crash near Dagenham at around 9am on October 3. The eastbound carriageway between Ripple Road and Marsh Way ground to a halt following the pile-up, which involved eight cars and a lorry.

One Man Hospitalised, No One Trapped

Emergency services scrambled to the scene, but thankfully, no one was trapped in the wreckage. However, one man was treated at the site before being rushed to hospital. London Fire Brigade (LFB) arrived swiftly, sending a fire engine from Wennington fire station to tackle the aftermath.

“One fire engine from Wennington fire station was called to a road traffic collision involving eight vehicles and one lorry on the A13 eastbound carriageway, between Ripple Road and Marsh Way in Dagenham, this morning,” said an LFB spokesperson. “The Brigade’s 999 Control officers took the first call at 08:57 and the incident was over by 09:28. No one was trapped. The eastbound carriageway remains closed so motorists are advised to avoid the area.”

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

The London Ambulance Service confirmed they dispatched an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, and an incident response officer. They treated a patient on-site before transporting him to hospital for further care.

“We were called at 8:57am today (3 October) to reports of a road traffic collision on the A13, in Dagenham,” said a spokesperson. “We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer to the scene. We treated a patient at the scene and took him to hospital.”

Motorists Warned to Avoid the Area

The eastbound A13 remains closed, causing severe delays. The London Fire Brigade has urged drivers to steer clear of the crash zone to prevent further chaos.

The Met Police have been contacted for comment as investigations continue.
