A terrifying murder hunt is on after a kind-hearted great-grandmother was found battered to death at her home in Liverpool’s Dovecot estate.
Rose Johnston Found Dead With Blunt Force Injuries
Rose Johnston, 68, was discovered at her terraced house on Saturday. The beloved pensioner suffered blunt force trauma to the head, according to the post-mortem report.
Known for her gentle nature, Rose was a dedicated tutor and special needs volunteer. Neighbours say she was often seen taking peaceful walks around the estate.
Family Devastated by Senseless Killing
“Mum was kind, caring, compassionate, friendly, unassuming, and gentle. She was so intelligent, funny and sarcastic,” said the Johnston family. “She spent years working in adult education and volunteered tirelessly, always giving to others despite having little herself. “She was private but family-orientated, always putting everyone else before herself. We can’t understand who would hurt her like this.”
Police Launch Murder Probe, Appeal for Witnesses
Merseyside Police have launched a full murder investigation. Officers are canvassing the neighbourhood, scouring CCTV footage, and carrying out forensic checks.
Detective Chief Inspector Catherine Walsh said:
“We’re moving quickly and speaking to friends and neighbours to get a full picture of Rose’s life. “She was private but liked walking around the estate. If anyone saw her or noticed suspicious activity recently, please come forward. “If you have dashcam or doorbell footage, we want to see it.”
Extra patrols are in place, and a mobile police station will be set up on the estate to reassure worried locals.
No arrests have been made yet. The killer remains at large.
