West Midlands Police launched a morning raid in Castle Vale on Thursday, arresting a 41-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man. Both face suspicion of making the risky Class B drug known as ‘Lean’.

Drug Lab Raided: Phenergan, Codeine & More Seized

Officers from Birmingham’s Priority Crime Team uncovered hundreds of bottles of cough syrup ingredients—Phenergan and codeine—along with lab equipment like beakers, funnels, and an automatic stirrer. The haul also included cocaine, cannabis, cash, a samurai sword, and pepper spray.

‘Lean’ Drug Targets Youths with Deadly Side Effects

‘Lean’ is a sweet, sedative concoction popular among youngsters. But it comes with serious risks including psychosis, memory loss, and impaired thinking. Some batches contain paracetamol, which can cause fatal liver damage if taken in large amounts.

Police Seek Public’s Help as Investigation Continues

The pair have been released on bail while inquiries press on. Police urge anyone with information to call 101 quoting crime ref 20/411120/25, or report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
