Southeastern rail services were thrown into chaos yesterday afternoon (October 20) following a fatal incident at a level crossing in Maidstone.
Casualty Confirmed Dead at Scene
Emergency teams rushed to the scene at around 1.20pm after reports of a casualty on the tracks. Despite efforts, the individual was sadly pronounced dead on site.
A British Transport Police spokesperson confirmed: “Officers were called at around 1.20pm today (20 October) to reports of a casualty on the tracks at a level crossing in Maidstone. Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries into the circumstances leading up to the incident are ongoing.”
Rail Disruptions Hit Strood to Paddock Wood and Maidstone West
Train services between Strood and Paddock Wood faced cancellations and severe delays. Maidstone West was also badly affected as Southeastern scrambled to manage the chaos.
