Thomas Waller, 18, was locked up for 10 years yesterday after horrific abuse of toddlers in Surrey nursery.

Calm Refusal to Speak in Police Interview

Chilling footage shows Waller calmly saying “no comment” when Suffolk cops grill him about indecent images found on his phone. Wearing a puffer jacket, he slumps in his seat, swaying quietly but refusing to answer any questions.

The detective presses: “What do you think we found on that phone, Thomas?” Waller’s icy reply? “No comment.” This cold silence continued when questioned about the abusive images and why they were on his phone.

Horrific Crimes Laid Bare in Court

Waller was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court after being found guilty of raping and sexually abusing two boys aged just three and four. The attacks took place between July and August 2024 at a Surrey nursery, where he worked over summer.

His role involved helping toddlers to the toilet and changing them. Within days, he had gained the trust of the children before abusing them.

Judges heard Waller’s DNA was found on one victim’s underwear, and indecent photos were discovered of another child. He showed no reaction when sentenced to 15 years, with a minimum 10 years in custody at a young offender institution.

Victims’ Families Speak Out

“When my son told me what happened, I couldn’t believe it. He didn’t even know it was wrong,” said Child D’s mother. “This man took advantage of that beautiful innocence.”

She described Waller as “cold, sinister and calculated”.

The father of one victim said his son “has memories I would never wish on anyone” and that Waller “cannot be allowed to do this again.”

The mother of the other child expressed deep guilt and worry the images could be circulating, saying: “It could impact his whole life.”

Nursery and Authorities Respond

The nursery took “immediate action” once concerns were raised, cooperating fully with police and safeguarding officials, and has since reviewed and beefed up child protection policies.

Surrey County Council condemned Waller’s actions as “appalling” and reassured the public that child welfare is their “absolute priority.”

The Crown Prosecution Service called the crimes “a parent’s worst nightmare.” Prosecutor Rebecca Millardship said Waller “carefully planned attacks” and targeted the job to abuse children.

Waller now faces justice behind bars – but the scars he left on those innocent toddlers will last a lifetime.
