Brutal Alleyway Attack: Young Dad Killed in Hounslow
A man has been jailed for 17 years at the Old Bailey for the savage manslaughter of a young father who came to the UK chasing a better future for his family.
Fateful Night in Hounslow Alley
Vitalie Daikov, 26, of no fixed address, was told to serve at least two-thirds of his sentence for the manslaughter of 31-year-old Kamil Metler last October.
Police, London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance rushed to Montague Road, Hounslow at 2:52am on 8 October 2017. They found Kamil unconscious in an alleyway between Lampton Road and Montague Road with serious head injuries. He died at the scene.
Witnesses saw Kamil being kicked and stamped on the head while on the ground.
Attack Sparks Horrifying Toll
A post-mortem confirmed Kamil died from head injuries. Investigators pieced together his last hours: earlier that night, Kamil had been at Yates pub on Bath Road. After leaving, he was spotted talking to a woman outside before all three moved to the alley.
The woman ran out shortly after, while Daikov walked off in the opposite direction. It was in this alley that Daikov launched the fatal assault.
Daikov claimed he feared robbery but had never met Kamil before the encounter.
Justice Served After Gutless Attack
Daikov was initially charged with murder but cleared of that. He later pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Blackfriars Crown Court on 1 March and was remanded in custody awaiting sentence.
“Daikov’s uncontrolled rage has taken the life of a man who came to Britain seeking a better life to support his young son,” said Detective Inspector Will Reynolds.
Kamil’s grieving mother expressed her undying heartbreak:
“I have not reconciled myself and I dare say I never will to the fact that my son is dead. I feel a void between his life and the grave. The image of my son keeps haunting my sleepless nights, and the pain of how much he suffered is unbearable. Daikov left him to die slowly, wandering the streets instead of helping or calling emergency services.”
Daikov’s cold-blooded neglect after the attack has shocked the community and left a family shattered for good.
