A man from Islington has been locked up after cops found a stash of homemade explosives and deadly weapons in his home. Liam Pinnock, 39, was handed an 18-month prison sentence at Blackfriars Crown Court on Monday 20 August. He had pleaded guilty back in June to making and attempting to make explosive substances for unlawful purposes.
Homemade Explosives and Weapons Seized
Police raided Pinnock’s address on 3 January, discovering a haul of zombie knives, axes, machetes, homemade explosives, and body armour. The terrifying arsenal was swiftly taken off the streets, preventing what could have been serious violence in London.
Dangerous Criminal Behind Bars
Detective Sergeant Dan Byron from the Met’s Central North Safeguarding Unit said: “Pinnock is a dangerous individual who, if not stopped, could have caused serious harm to himself or others.”
Two crude explosive devices and numerous lethal weapons were removed from circulation, cutting off a serious threat to public safety.
Police Commitment to Public Safety
Officers arrested Pinnock on 6 January, charging him with manufacturing prohibited weapons and explosives. The investigation was carried out by the Central North Command Unit, and it was confirmed this was not a terrorism case.
Detectives pledged to keep hunting down dangerous individuals and their deadly weapons to protect local communities.
