Peter Jones, 63, was caught red-handed thanks to quick-thinking colleagues. Growing suspicious, staff secretly hid a GoPro camera inside a vase before Jones started his shift. The footage revealed him committing sexual assaults on the helpless woman.
Swift Police Action Seals Jones’ Fate
The care home manager handed the shocking footage to South Wales Police, who swiftly arrested Jones within an hour. He was immediately suspended from his job while detectives launched a probe.
Guilty Plea and Harsh Sentence
Jones pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual offences against a vulnerable woman. On Tuesday 13 October 2020, Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court sentenced him to five years and three months behind bars.
“Peter Jones abused his position of trust to carry out the most sickening of acts against a vulnerable woman,” said Detective Constable Bethan Porter.
“He deliberately targeted someone unable to speak out, leaving a trail of trauma at the care home and within the victim’s family.”
“This sentence reflects the severity of his crimes and we hope it offers some closure to those affected.”
