Teen Caught with Knife at Hackney Station in Policing Blitz

At 1pm on Tuesday, 10 November, officers on patrol at Hackney Central railway station spotted a suspicious 15-year-old trying to avoid the police and make a run for it. Their sharp instincts paid off – the teenager was stopped and found with a lock knife in his pocket.

Teen Arrested After Kicking Officer

While being taken to the police station, the young suspect aggressively kicked an officer. He was promptly arrested and later charged with possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting an emergency worker. The teenager pled guilty the very next day at Stratford Magistrates’ Court and was released on conditional bail. His sentencing is set for 24 November at the same court.

Operation Sceptre Hits Knife Crime Hard

Detective Inspector Angie Baker of the Violence Suppression Unit said:

“We are always prioritising our work to bear down on violence and this week we are focusing on knife crime nationally as part of Operation Sceptre. By removing this knife we have potentially prevented an act of violence and even a loss of life.”

“We are also working hard with our partners to engage with the teenager and help divert him down a different path.”
