Man Jailed for Five Years Over Brutal Domestic Attacks in Grange-over-Sands
A 28-year-old man has been locked up for five years after brutally attacking a woman in a series of assaults last summer. Callum Astley, from Ellesmere Road, Morecambe, targeted his victim multiple times while living in Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria.
Harsh Sentence After Multiple Assaults
Astley admitted three counts of assault against the woman and one count of common assault on another person. The attacks took place in June and July 2020. He was arrested soon after and remanded in custody. Astley faced Preston Crown Court, where he received his sentence.
Police Vow to Tackle Domestic Abuse Relentlessly
Acting Detective Inspector Scott Elgey made a strong statement following the sentencing: “Astley is facing the harsh reality of a spell behind bars for the violence he carried out.”
“Domestic violence is a priority for Cumbria Constabulary. We take a proactive and sensitive approach to all reports,” Elgey said. “Anyone experiencing domestic abuse can feel reassured that cases will be handled professionally. We are committed to prosecuting offenders and supporting victims and survivors through partner agencies.”
