Gun Fired at Unarmed Met Police During Chase in Colindale
Armed chaos erupted on Grahame Park Estate, Colindale, on Thursday night as a group of men opened fire at plainclothes officers from the Met’s North West Violence Suppression Unit. The dramatic incident happened around 7.10pm when ten officers, responding to reports of a large gathering, spotted six local males who immediately bolted.
Officers Under Fire – Nobody Injured
The officers gave chase on foot when one suspect reportedly fired multiple shots at the unarmed cops. Miraculously, no one was hurt, but the officers were visibly rattled by the brazen attack. Armed response teams and extra police resources quickly flooded the area for an intense search.
Police Appeal for Public Help After Rare Firearm Discharge
A Section 60 order was swiftly imposed, giving officers enhanced search powers across Grahame Park and nearby roads until 9am on Friday. Detectives from Specialist Crime North Command now lead the investigation into the near-miss shooting.
Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger said: “Violence against officers will never be tolerated. This reckless act could have turned fatal. We need the public’s help to identify these violent suspects. If you have dashcam or doorcam footage, please come forward, even anonymously via Crimestoppers.”

One Arrest Made—but Not Linked to Shooting
Police detained a 49-year-old man nearby on suspicion of constructive possession of a firearm, assaulting an emergency worker, and possession of cannabis. He remains in custody but is not connected to the shooters.
