Carlisle Man Jailed for Knife Attack After BMW U-Turn
Llewellyn Newth, 44, has been locked up at Carlisle Crown Court for a brutal knife attack and other offences. The Currock Road resident pleaded guilty to wounding with intent, carrying a blade in public, and a separate Actual Bodily Harm charge from an unrelated incident.
The Chase and Attack
The drama unfolded just after 10pm on October 28, near the Hollywood Bowl in Currock. Four men strolled towards the city centre when a silver BMW, driven by Newth, zipped past them. Suddenly, the driver reversed, jumped out, and stabbed one of the men in the arm.
Newth was quickly tracked down and arrested at his home after police searched the area for his vehicle.
Police Speak Out
“We are pleased that Newth has received a custodial sentence for his actions,” said Detective Constable Lisa Atkinson from North Cumbria Crime and Safeguarding Team. “The victim had done little to provoke Newth but was still stabbed in the arm. Luckily, the injury wasn’t worse — but that doesn’t lessen how serious this knife crime is. A knife can take a life. Newth now has time to reflect on his actions, away from our communities.”
