Tragic Farm Bridge Collapse: Man Dies as Polaris Ranger Plunges Into River

Disaster struck in Moor Lane, Lancashire, on Tuesday afternoon when a bridge collapsed beneath a Polaris Ranger pulling a trailer, sending 11 people into a river. Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 4:25pm after reports of a serious accident.

One Dead, Several Seriously Hurt in Shocking Fall

Despite swift action from police, ambulance, fire crews, and mountain rescue teams, one man was pronounced dead at the scene. Another suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital. A third person faced a grave back injury and was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary, along with several others injured in the harrowing incident.

Police Launch Probe as Roadblocks Remain

Road closures around the area are expected to persist as officers investigate the tragic collapse. Detective Inspector Kirsty Wyatt spoke out about the incident:

“My thoughts are very much with all those involved in what is a very sad and tragic incident. One man has sadly died and a number of people have suffered serious injuries.

“At this time we believe the vehicle was pulling the trailer, containing a number of people, when a bridge gave way. Those people were then thrown from the vehicle and trailer.

“Our investigation is at very early stages and enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened.”

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact police on 101, quoting log 0953 of January 18.
