Five Jailed for Brutal Teen Stabbing in Hackney

Five men have been locked up after a teenage boy was brutally stabbed in a busy Hackney street. The judge slammed them for attacking their victim “like a pack of wolves.”

Chaos on Broadway Market

The attack unfolded on 30 July 2020 just after 11pm at Broadway Market, packed with people enjoying a night out. Eyewitnesses were horrified — some even feared it was a terror attack. Police arrived within four minutes to find the 15-year-old victim with multiple stab wounds. A member of the public had already started first aid before paramedics rushed him to hospital.

The suspects fled on bikes, leaving behind a large machete near the scene. Early morning police raids from August 2020 to May 2021 swept up the gang.

Inside the Courtroom Drama

The victim had travelled armed with a machete but was chased and stabbed multiple times by the attackers. Objects like bottles and chairs were hurled at him during the assault. The murder weapon was never recovered.

Shockingly, some thugs googled news about the stabbing after the attack. Paul even had a photo of the victim on his phone but claimed ignorance about how it got there.

Prosecutors revealed how William Guy’s phone step counter showed activity matching the stabbing time and then stopped during the manhunt. Guy and James-Meade also chatted about the stabbing risks in a Snapchat group called “The real A team.”

Both Paul and Guy claimed self-defence, but the judge was having none of it.

PC Cal Gregory said: “This was a long, meticulous investigation that pieced together the evidence. The attack terrified the public and shows the devastating impact of gang violence.”

“The victim did not cooperate, but we’re sending a clear message to violent offenders — we will hunt you down.”

“Violence is down thanks to our relentless work, but we need the public’s help. Even small tips to Crimestoppers can save lives.”

Victim Also Faces Charges

The 15-year-old victim was arrested and charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon. He pleaded guilty at Stratford Magistrates’ Court and was referred to the Hackney Youth Offender panel.
