Grimsby Man Jailed for Brutal Mother’s Day Attacks
Nathan Waterman, 33, was sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court on Friday, 1 April, after pleading guilty to violent offences committed last year.
Barred Door, Demanded Drugs, Then Violence
On Sunday 14 March 2021, Waterman forced his way into a stranger’s home on Lord Street, Grimsby. The occupant was spending Mother’s Day with her family when Waterman stormed in demanding drugs. He then violently attacked the woman, smashing her head against a wall and kicking her.
No sooner had he left, Waterman barged into a second Lord Street property. He punched a man and pulled a knife, terrifying the residents—including two young children.
Police Praise Jail Sentence for ‘Dangerous’ Offender
“This dangerous man’s actions terrified the residents of both houses, including two young children,” said PC Emma McLauchlan.
“I am pleased Waterman has been jailed and will serve two extra years on licence. Hopefully, this will bring some comfort to his victims that justice has been done.”
Judge Condemns ‘Brutal and Random’ Attacks
Judge Michael Fanning described the assaults as “brutal and random” as he passed sentence.
