Brutal Bus Station Attack in Workington

John Pullin, 34, from Cleator Moor, was slammed at Carlisle Crown Court after admitting to a vicious attack outside Workington’s bus station. Pullin faced charges including attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of assault, criminal damage, and breaching a criminal behaviour order banning him from the area.

Unprovoked Assault Leaves Woman Hospitalised

Police were called just after 5pm on 3 March following reports of a woman being attacked on Murray Road. Pullin grabbed the victim by the head, threw her to the ground, then slammed her suitcase onto her and stamped on her head.

The victim lost consciousness and was rushed to hospital with a fractured nose and a nasty bump on the back of her head.

Heroic Stagecoach Staff Step In – Get Punched for Their Trouble

Two Stagecoach employees bravely tried to stop Pullin’s rampage. But instead of backing down, Pullin punched both staff members and broke one of their glasses.

Police arrived promptly and arrested Pullin at the scene.

Defiant Attacker Shows No Remorse

During questioning, Pullin largely refused to comment. When shown the criminal behaviour order map that banned him from the area, he dismissively said, “I’ll cough to that.”

“This was a completely unprovoked and vicious attack,” said T/Detective Constable Olivia Foster. “Pullin’s violence could have led to far worse injuries. The victim will carry the trauma for a long time.”

“I also want to praise the Stagecoach staff for their courage in trying to stop this brutal assault.”
