Two Men Charged with Murder After Preston Stabbing
Andrew Wilcock, 29, and Benjamin Bibby, 20, both from Preston, have been charged with murder and possession of a bladed weapon. They are due to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning (Tuesday, June 21).
Five Others Released on Bail
Five other men, aged between 18 and 31, arrested over the weekend on suspicion of murder, have been released on bail as investigations continue.
Victim Found with Fatal Stab Wounds
The drama unfolded shortly after 3 a.m. on Friday, June 17, when emergency services were called to Jutland Street. They found 42-year-old Lee Dawson suffering from stab wounds. Originally from Preston and now living in Sunderland, Mr Dawson was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital but sadly later died.
A Home Office post-mortem confirmed his cause of death as stab wounds, sparking a full murder inquiry.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
“While we have now charged two people with Mr Dawson’s murder, our investigation is very much ongoing,” said Det Chief Insp Mark Haworth-Oates of Lancashire Police’s Major Investigation Team. “I am grateful to everyone who has helped so far and encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
