But that wasn’t all. Cops found Russ also had access to a storage unit on Newport Road. Inside were 42 boxes containing a whopping 25,200 more canisters. Russ owned up, admitting he sold them to cover his bills.
Russ Faces Serious Charges
- Possession of a psychoactive substance with intent to supply
- Acquiring, using, or possessing criminal property
- Driving without insurance
He pleaded guilty to all charges at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 4. Sentencing is set for Monday, July 18 at Cardiff Crown Court.
Why Laughing Gas Is No Laughing Matter
Nitrous oxide—also known as laughing gas, NOS, or chargers—is sold in shiny silver canisters often discarded in parks and open spaces. While it has legitimate uses, inhaling it can cause unconsciousness or even death due to oxygen deprivation.
It’s illegal in England and Wales to sell nitrous oxide to anyone under 18 if the seller suspects it will be inhaled. Mix it with alcohol, and the risk of fatal consequences skyrockets.
