Young Footballer Freed on Bail Amid Serious Charges
21-Year-Old Footballer Faces Multiple Charges
A 21-year-old footballer from Bowdon, Greater Manchester, has been charged with assault and controlling and coercive behaviour, alongside an attempted rape allegation. The man, who has appeared once for England, was arrested in January after disturbing images and videos emerged online.
Back in Court, Then Released
Following a private hearing at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, the forward was released from custody on strict bail conditions. A court spokesman confirmed he cannot contact the complainant or other witnesses and must live at a specified address in Bowdon.
Despite not attending Monday’s hearing at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court, he was initially remanded in custody. He had been out on bail since January but was re-arrested last Saturday in Trafford for allegedly breaching bail conditions.
Serious Allegations Span Years
- Attempted rape allegedly took place in October 2021
- Controlling and coercive behaviour occurred between November 2018 and October 2022, including threats, insults, and spying on social media accounts
- Assault causing actual bodily harm reportedly happened in December 2021
Club Suspends Player Amidst Scandal
The footballer was suspended from playing or training with his Old Trafford club hours after the allegations went public earlier this year. The case continues to develop as details emerge from the court proceedings.
