Two Arrested Over Death of Two-Year-Old Girl
Police in Ipswich were left horrified after discovering the body of a two-year-old girl at a Sidegate Lane home on Friday, 30 June. Officers arrived just after 11:45am to find the child lifeless, sparking a murder investigation.
Suspects Caught and Charged
In the early hours of Saturday, 1 July, cops arrested Scott Jeff, 22, and Chelsea Gleason-Mitchell, 22, both formerly from Bedfordshire and currently homeless. They were charged with murder following the tragic death and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. Both remain in custody ahead of their Ipswich Magistrates’ Court appearance today.
Investigation Intensifies
The Home Office conducted an initial post-mortem, with further tests underway. Formal ID checks on the toddler are ongoing. Due to prior police involvement with the child, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is now investigating to ensure all circumstances leading up to this tragedy are fully reviewed.
