Leamington Clubgoer Jailed After Knife Seized Outside Nightspot
Police swooped on nightclub reveller Kieron Herlihy on 6 July after reports he was carrying a knife. Officers quickly found the 27-year-old near the venue and handcuffed him, seizing the weapon tucked inside his waistband.

Short Sentence Sends Tough Message on Knife Crime
Herlihy, from Crompton Street, Warwick, appeared at coventry/" title="Coventry" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Coventry Magistrates’ Court last week and was handed a 26-week jail term.
“In interview, Herlihy said he carried the knife for self-defence, the usual excuse,” said Sergeant Daniel Harle from the Leamington Patrol Investigation Unit. “It didn’t protect him—instead, it landed him in prison.”
“He even claimed he would keep carrying a knife, which is useful info for us!” Sergeant Harle added.
“There is no excuse for carrying a knife. If we catch you, we will act fast. Herlihy was behind bars within 48 hours of his arrest. Let his sentence be a warning to others.”
