We are deeply saddened to report that a recovery driver lost his life in a tragic incident on the M42 in Warwickshire yesterday. Emergency crews responded to the scene between junctions 10 and 9 at approximately 1:40 am on Saturday, July 15.
Upon arrival, responders discovered that a Ford Fiesta car and a recovery vehicle had been involved in a serious collision. Regrettably, the driver of the recovery truck, a 45-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries and tragically passed away at the scene.
In connection with the incident, a 28-year-old man from Leicestershire has been arrested. He has since been released on bail as the investigation continues.
Detective Constable Ballantyne from Warwickshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit made an appeal to potential witnesses, stating, “We are urging any witnesses who may have seen either vehicle in the lead up to the collision or witnessed the collision itself to please get in touch. We are currently working to establish exactly what happened.”
Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, observed the vehicles prior to the incident, or possesses dashcam footage related to the incident to contact Warwickshire Police at 101. Please quote incident number 27 of July 15, 2023.
