Man Charged After Elderly Woman Attacked in Sheffield Park
Woman in 80s Assaulted in Firth Park
Police were called on Sunday, 4 December 2022, following reports that an elderly woman in her 80s was assaulted in Firth Park, Sheffield. The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital before being discharged.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
Saed Mohamed, from The Oval in Firth Park, was arrested later that day. He faces serious charges including attempted rape, Section 18 assault, and sexual assault. Mohamed was also charged with Section 39 common assault linked to a previous incident in Sheffield city centre.
On 7 December, Mohamed was officially charged with all four offences. He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on 8 December.
Police Crack Down on Violence Against Women
Detective Chief Inspector Eleanor Welsh said: “I understand this is an alarming incident and we have now charged a man in connection with what happened. There is no place for violence in our communities. Today in Sheffield we are delivering our latest Operation Duxford which is focused on tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG), a key priority for our force.”
