Broken Britain: A Teenager From Luton Has Been Sentenced To Rehabilitation For The Manslaughter Of A 63-year-old Man

Teen Knife Killer Sentenced to Youth Rehab After Fatal Stabbing

17-Year-Old Found Guilty of Manslaughter

A Luton teen has been handed a youth rehabilitation order after fatally stabbing a man in a knife attack that shocked the community. The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was convicted of manslaughter last month following the death of 63-year-old Ghulam Raja.

Deadly Stabbing After Heated Argument

The boy, then just 16, stabbed Mr Raja four times in the head and leg during a fight at a property on Dorrington Close on November 15, 2021. Mr Raja, from Bolton, was rushed to hospital but sadly died five days later from his injuries.

Chilling Snapchat Video and Police Call

In a disturbing twist, the teen posted a video of the injured Mr Raja on his Snapchat account before calling the police just a minute later. During his trial, the youngster admitted the stabbing but insisted he acted in self-defence and had no intention to seriously harm.

Youth Rehabilitation Ordered with Intensive Supervision

After a two-week trial at Luton Crown Court in November, the teen was found guilty of manslaughter. Yesterday (Monday), he was sentenced to a 12-month Youth Rehabilitation Order, including intensive supervision and surveillance. The judge also took into account his time spent on remand.

Detective Inspector Richard Stott said: “This is a tragic case that resulted in the loss of a man and serves as yet another reminder of the dangers of knives. The adolescent has already served time in prison, and his 12-month Youth Rehabilitation Order will begin with intensive supervision and surveillance, guiding him away from future criminality.”

“Knife crime is a major issue, both in Bedfordshire and nationwide. It’s critical we continue working with partners to reduce the threat of knife crime and protect our communities.”
