The dog responsible has been held in isolation at secure kennels since the attack. Officers are now applying for an order to have the animal put down.
“This has been a profoundly sad investigation for everyone involved in understanding the circumstances around baby Kyra’s death,” said lead investigator DC Craig Davey. “We have kept an open mind throughout this lengthy and detailed inquiry involving forensic experts and officers from our Protecting Vulnerable People unit. Charges have now been filed against two people, and we will continue to work with the CPS as this case progresses through the justice system.”

Alcock and King are due to appear at Boston Magistrates’ Court for an initial hearing at 11am on Wednesday 9 November.
