Tragedy on Westgate Street: 18-year-old fatally stabbed in broad daylight
Knife attack shocks local community
The horror unfolded at 3.35pm on Tuesday, January 17th, on Westgate Street, when two men launched a brutal stabbing assault on 18-year-old Raymond James Quigley, known as James, from Wymondham, Norfolk.
During the attack, one suspect chased and threatened another victim with a knife, but thankfully he managed to escape unharmed. The attackers fled in different directions, leaving chaos behind.
Emergency crews rush to scene — victim dies despite efforts
Police and ambulance crews arrived swiftly, but tragically, James died at the scene despite frantic attempts to save him. A Home Office post-mortem confirmed he died from four stab wounds to the torso.
Two teens charged with murder
Following intensive investigation, cops arrested two male teenagers on Saturday, January 21. Alfie Hammett, 18, of Rushmere St Andrew, and a 17-year-old boy from ipswich/" title="Ipswich" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Ipswich have both been charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Both remain in custody and will appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 24.
Ongoing investigation and appeal for witnesses
