BMW Driver Busted Twice for Driving Without Insurance and Disqualified

Police stopped a BMW in Meadowside, Newport, on the evening of 6 March. The driver, 40-year-old Darren Prouten, faced immediate arrest.

Multiple Driving Offences Uncovered

Prouten was charged with driving without insurance and while disqualified. But that wasn’t all. He is also linked to a similar offence from 21 February on Brading Road, Ryde, involving driving without insurance and being disqualified.

Theft and Shoplifting Charges Added

Officers also charged Prouten, who has no fixed address, with theft from a vehicle. This relates to a stolen car waterproof cover taken in Newport last August. On top of that, he faces three counts of shoplifting alleged between 29 March and 23 April 2022.

Prouten Remanded in Custody

Yesterday (7 March), Prouten appeared at portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court. He was remanded in custody ahead of his next hearing at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 14 March.
