Two Serial Shoplifters Locked Up After Violent Spree Across Warwickshire
Trevor Myles, 43, and Arthur Fear, 43, both of no fixed abode, have been jailed for their ruthless shoplifting rackets stretching across Warwick, Leamington Spa, and Kenilworth.
Myles Breaks Shopworker’s Finger During Alcohol Theft
Myles admitted 17 counts of theft, plus assault and assaulting an emergency worker. Between 7 February and 10 March, he repeatedly stole from local shops. In one brazen incident last month, caught on CCTV in Parade, Leamington Spa, Myles was confronted by a staff member while trying to nick alcohol. He didn’t back down – instead, he assaulted the shopworker and broke his finger.
When police caught up with Myles on 13 March, he fled but was cornered on Bury Road. During the arrest, he pushed and scratched an officer, leaving her with cuts.
Last week, Coventry Magistrates’ Court sentenced Myles to 42 weeks behind bars.
Fear’s Shoplifting Spree Ends with Assault and Jail
Arthur Fear pleaded guilty to 14 thefts and one assault committed between December 2022 and February 2023. Like Myles, Fear targeted alcohol. On 30 December, when confronted during a shoplift attempt in Leamington’s Parade, he responded with violence.
He was arrested in Fallow Hill, Leamington, on 14 March and dragged before Warwick Crown Court the next day, where he was sentenced to 45 weeks in jail.
Police Warn Shoplifters: ‘We’re Watching You’
Inspector Simon Ryan, head of Warwick District Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:
“Myles and Fear are prolific offenders who stole hundreds of pounds worth of goods from shops across Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth. I hope this sends a clear message that shoplifting will not be tolerated in the area and we are working closely with businesses to identify offenders and bring them to justice.”
Both men’s jail terms send a stark warning to other thieves: the heat is on, and police mean business.
