Man Murdered in Coventry Street Attack – Suspect Charged
Victim Found Dead with Serious Injuries
West Midlands Police have identified the victim of a fatal street attack as Shou Zou. He was found with severe injuries in Upper Well Street just before 2.40 a.m. on Thursday, April 6.
Emergency Services Fail to Save Victim
Despite frantic efforts by emergency crews, Mr Zou died at the scene. Police immediately launched a murder investigation.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
A 20-year-old man suffered non-life threatening shoulder and hand injuries during the incident. Penqui Sun, 23, from Coventry, has been charged with Mr Zou’s murder and attempted murder. He is due to appear at Coventry Magistrates Court on Saturday, April 8.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“Our thoughts remain with Mr Zou’s family, who have now been informed about their loved one’s death,” said Detective Chief Inspector Dave Sanders. “We are not looking for anyone else in relation to the attack, but investigations continue.”
