Woman Jailed for Brutal Attack on Disabled Victim in Home Invasion
A 31-year-old woman from Abbey Hey, Manchester, has been locked up for aggravated burglary and grievous bodily harm after a savage assault on a disabled woman in her own home.
Chilling Home Invasion with Drill Used as Weapon
Jade Kent broke into the victim’s house around 11am on 29 May 2022. The disabled woman was sitting in her dining room when she spotted Kent in her hallway.
Kent charged at her carrying a drill, shouting threats. She rammed her knee into the woman’s stomach, trapping her in the seat. Then, she pressed the drill—turned on—against the back of the victim’s head, forcing it down to her neck and applying brutal pressure.
The terror escalated as Kent dragged the woman by her hair to the floor, hurled her into the kitchen, then kicked her repeatedly in the chest and stomach. Despite the victim’s desperate pleas for mercy, the assault continued before Kent fled.
Victim Left Scarred and Suffering Anxiety
- The victim suffered lacerations to her scalp and neck.
- She sustained bruising on her face, collarbone, neck, elbow, and forearm.
- Permanent scars remain from the terrifying attack.
- Both the victim and her teenage daughter, who was upstairs during the attack, have battled ongoing anxiety since.
Justice Served: Five Years Behind Bars
Kent was arrested shortly after the attack. She made no comment during her police interview but later pleaded guilty at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court in August 2022.
Today she was sentenced to five years and four months in prison. An indefinite restraining order was also imposed, barring Kent from contacting the victim.
Gary Logan, Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a disabled woman in her own home. The CPS worked with Greater Manchester Police to build a strong case including CCTV and eyewitness testimony. The strength of the evidence was such that Kent had no option but to accept her guilt.
“My thoughts are with the victim and her family who have been badly affected by this incident. I can only hope knowing Kent has been brought to justice will help them to put this behind them.”
