Knife-wielding mugger jailed after terrifying carjacking in Grimsby
Blade threat shocks local community
Gracian Karbowski, 20, with no fixed address, has been found guilty of robbery and carrying a knife in public. After a tense three-day trial at Grimsby Crown Court, a jury convicted him on all charges.
Terrifying cash-debt showdown turns violent
On the evening of Friday 23 September last year, Karbowski arranged to meet a man he owed money to on Macauley Street, Grimsby, around 8pm. The victim invited Karbowski into his car, unaware the 20-year-old was armed with a knife. Karbowski then pulled the blade, threatened the man, and forced him out, before driving off in the victim’s vehicle.
Detective vows justice and community safety
Detective Constable Jak Shepherd said: “This was a vicious attack on a member of our community and I’d like to commend them for their bravery throughout the entirety of this investigation.
“I hope the outcome provides reassurance that violent assaults will not be tolerated. We will do everything we can to seek justice for victims, ensuring our residents feel safe and offenders are punished.”
