Child Abusers Cheryl Pickles and Andrew Hadwin Exposed After Years of Torture

Couple Convicted After Shocking Seven-Week Trial
The pair were found guilty of multiple counts of child neglect and perverting the course of justice following a grueling seven-week trial that ended in January. Hadwin was also convicted of three counts of rape involving a different child from years earlier.
Before sentencing, 39-year-old Andrew Hadwin died in prison on February 2. He had been remanded pending his punishment. Authorities are investigating the cause of his death, with a report to be sent to the Coroner.
Harsh Sentence for Pickles After Court Hearing
Cheryl Pickles, 35, formerly of Bowburn, County Durham, returned to court recently. She received 12 years for child cruelty and an additional 3 years for perverting justice, serving the sentences consecutively. She was cleared of sexual activity with a child charges.
Police Praise Victims’ Courage and Urge Public to Speak Up
“The children endured unimaginable cruelty,” said Detective Constable Kat Pudney from Durham Constabulary. “Despite what they faced, they’ve shown incredible bravery standing up to the couple in court.”
“One of Hadwin’s victims, now an adult, proved she wouldn’t let the abuse define her life. Pickles will now face the consequences for her crimes.”
