Thanos Masked Burglar Duo Jailed for 13 Years After Knife-Heist Horror
Two crooks who stormed a flat wearing a Thanos supervillain mask and wielding a knife have been locked up for a combined 13 years. The terrifying raid in Grimsby saw them threaten occupants and steal cash and valuables in a ruthless aggravated burglary.
Knife-Wielding Pair Ransack Flat in Deadly March Raid
Thomas Sharlotte, 30, from Cheapside, Waltham, and Christopher Beach, 42, of Patrick Street, Grimsby, were found guilty after brandishing a knife and forcing entry into a first-floor flat on Alexandra Road last March. Beach, donning the infamous Thanos mask, threatened the homeowner and a visitor before making off with £200, games consoles, a mobile phone, and other loot.
Found Guilty at Grimsby Crown Court
A six-day trial kicked off on 22 March 2023. Both men denied the charges, with Beach claiming he never wore a mask or carried a knife, and Sharlotte insisting he was only there to buy weed. But the jury saw through their lies and convicted them on 29 March.
Justice was swift. On 5 May, Sharlotte was sentenced to five and a half years, while Beach got seven and a half years behind bars.
Police Crackdown and Warning to the Public
Detective Constable Andy Taylor from the Criminal Investigation Department spoke out: “A burglary is a deeply personal attack. Victims fear for their lives when their safe space is violently invaded. These two went there to terrorise for their own greed. We hope this sentence reassures the public that we will not tolerate such crime.”
He urged anyone with information about local crimes to report it via the non-emergency number 101, or speak to neighbourhood officers. For anonymous tips, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Always dial 999 if a crime is happening now.
