Chelmsford Man Charged with Robbery and Sexual Assault After Shocking Dog-Walk Attack
A 32-year-old Chelmsford man has been hit with robbery and sexual assault charges following a swift police crackdown.
Man Charged Following Assault Near Mill Lane
Reece Parkes, of Fairway Drive, faces charges after a woman was attacked while walking her dog near Mill Lane, a popular spot for dog walkers. The incident happened just before 6.25pm on Monday, September 11.
Parkes appeared in court on Monday, September 18. He has been remanded in custody and will return to Chelmsford Crown Court on October 16.
Police Trace Suspect with CCTV and Eyewitness Reports
The assault and robbery came to light when a passerby alerted police about a woman being attacked from behind. Officers launched an immediate, relentless investigation. They sifted through CCTV footage, knocked on doors for witness statements, and carefully interviewed the victim and those nearby.

“We have moved quickly to investigate this violent incident and safeguard the victim,” said Detective Chief Inspector Rob Huddleston, head of North Local Policing Area CID. “This involved extensive examination of CCTV, house-to-house enquiries, and working to obtain accounts from the victim and witnesses. Tackling violence in all its forms is an absolute priority for us all within the force.”
