Fan Charged Over Offensive Bradley Lowery Image at Sheffield Wednesday Match
A 31-year-old man from Rotherham faces charges after a sick incident at Hillsborough on Friday night. Dale Houghton is charged with a Section 4a Public Order offence following reports he and another man showed a disturbing image of the late Bradley Lowery during the Sheffield Wednesday vs Sunderland game.
Houghton Held and Facing Court
Houghton was arrested on Saturday and is now remanded in custody. He is set to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 2. Authorities have also applied for a football banning order against him, aiming to keep such behaviour off the terraces.
Another Man Released on Bail
A 27-year-old man, also arrested over the same incident, has been released on police bail while investigations continue. The display of Bradley Lowery’s image — a heartbreaking symbol for Sunderland fans after his battle with cancer — has sparked outrage across the football community.
The incident has drawn sharp criticism, highlighting the need for stricter measures against offensive conduct in football stadiums.
