Man Charged Over Liverpool City Centre Horror Crash
A 28-year-old man has been charged following a serious crash in Liverpool city centre early on Saturday, 7 October.
Connor Mears Facing Multiple Charges
Connor Mears, with no fixed address, faces a string of charges including causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drugs, failing to stop at the scene, and using a vehicle without insurance. He’s been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court on Monday, 9 October.
Two Others Released Pending Enquiries
A 53-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man from Southport, initially arrested in connection with the crash, have since been released but remain under investigation.
Pedestrian Left Fighting For Life
The collision happened on the Strand (southbound) at 1:10am and involved a white Audi TT, a grey Toyota Auris, and a 44-year-old male pedestrian who was on the pavement.
The pedestrian was seriously injured, treated at the scene, and rushed to hospital. He remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the MATRIX Serious Collision Investigation Unit offered his condolences to the victim’s family and thanked the community for their help.
“We urge anyone with information to come forward. Your details could be vital to this investigation,” he said.
