Weybridge Man Admits Sending Abusive Email Threats to Top MP Angela Rayner
David Perry, from Eyston Drive in Weybridge, Surrey, has pleaded guilty to sending threatening and abusive messages to Shadow Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner. The shocking admission came today at Westminster Magistrates’ Court after a probing investigation by Greater Manchester Police under Operation Octant.
Anger in Email Sparks Court Action
On May 2, 2022, Perry fired off a vile email loaded with nasty insults about Rayner’s appearance and competence. The bombshell correspondence was described as grossly offensive, obscene, and menacing. Perry now faces sentencing at Staines Magistrates on Thursday, November 16, 2023, over the disgraceful message.
Police Crack Down on Online Abuse
Detective Inspector Christopher Dean from GMP’s Tameside CID condemned the vile communication. He said it’s “unacceptable” and causes harm not only to victims like Rayner but their loved ones too. The investigation to track down Perry showed the seriousness with which officers treat such hate-filled exchanges.
“What might seem like just an email can lead to a criminal conviction. We will always act firmly against abuse,” warned DI Dean.
