Teen Charged with Murder After Tragic Stabbing of 15-Year-Old Alfie Lewis
A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Alfie Lewis outside St. Margaret’s Primary School in Horsforth, Leeds. The shocking attack happened on Tuesday, leaving the local community reeling.
Alfie Stabbed While Picking Up Child
Alfie Lewis was stabbed in the chest as he went to pick up another child from school. Despite emergency efforts, he tragically died at the scene. West Yorkshire Police have charged a 14-year-old boy with murder and possession of a knife. Due to his age, the suspect’s identity is withheld. He is due to appear at magistrates’ court today.
A 16-year-old boy initially arrested has since been released without charges.
Family Pay Emotional Tribute to ‘Uncle Alfie’
“I haven’t got the words to describe how devastated we all are,” said Alfie’s mother, Heather Lane. “Alfie, you were one in a million, so funny and an all-round entertainer with your rapping and dancing feet. You had the biggest heart and took care of everybody around you.”
“You will never know just how much you are loved by family and friends, and you will always be our Uncle Alfie. We love you so much. Nothing will ever be the same without you. You will shine in the sky, as bright as you did in all our lives.”
Community Mourns, Leaves Floral Tributes
Friends and family gathered at a bench near Alfie’s home—a spot where he often met pals—to remember him. Hundreds of floral tributes, photos, football shirts, a lion teddy bear, and candles were placed in his memory. Tea light candles spelled out ‘Alfie’ on the ground.
Tributes poured in, including one message reading: “Rip ‘Uncle’ Alfie. A lovely boy gone far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Rest in eternal peace. We love you.”
Another said: “Gone far too soon. Fly high, big lad.”
Alfie’s School Journey Cut Short
Alfie was due to turn 15 in September and was a former pupil of Horsforth School & Sixth Form. He left mainstream education two years ago and was enrolled in a specialist pupil referral unit, where he was reportedly making good progress and exploring new hobbies.
