London Brothers Jailed for Brutal Essex Attack and Massive Cannabis Grow

Two London brothers, Aurel and Xheni Ukcenaj, have been locked up after a savage assault and a huge cannabis operation in Southend, Essex. The violent episode on October 11, 2022, left two teenage boys badly injured.

Violent Early Morning Attack on Teenagers

Aurel, 32, from Lewisham, and Xheni, 27, from Enfield, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and running a cannabis farm. Police were called to York Road, Southend, just before 4.25 am over reports of a disturbance.

Officers found one boy with critical injuries and another hurt in the leg. Both were rushed to hospital and have since recovered.

Crime Gang Behind Cannabis Cultivation and Violence

Investigation by Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate revealed the brothers were part of an organised crime gang managing over 100 cannabis plants at a local property. The violence erupted from a dispute between rival groups.

When the two teenage victims tried to escape, the Ukcenaj brothers and their gang attacked brutally. Shockingly, Aurel stabbed one victim three times while he lay on the ground.

  • Both brothers, along with accomplice Elton Vata from Westcliff, were charged with cannabis production.
  • They pleaded guilty at Basildon Crown Court on November 7.
  • Xheni Ukcenaj was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with parole eligibility after 10 years.
  • Aurel was jailed for 12 years, with the possibility of release after 8.

Detective Inspector Lydia George said the investigation “successfully uncovered the criminal activities” leading to the brothers’ conviction and sentencing.
