Dorchester Man Jailed for 11 Years Over Brutal Rape Attacks
Jack Anthony Rowland, 24, from Dorchester, has been locked up for 11 years after being found guilty of non-fatal strangulation, assault, criminal damage, and two counts of rape. The sentencing took place at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday, November 27, 2023.
Two Terrifying Attacks on Same Victim
The first horrific attack occurred at Rowland’s home on November 11, 2022. Despite the victim’s clear objection, Rowland strangled and raped her. The nightmare didn’t end there. Between February 17 and 18, 2023, Rowland attacked the same woman again.
During a drive from Dorchester to Weymouth, Rowland’s temper flared. He kicked the victim’s car windscreen in rage. Back in Dorchester, he forced her to pull over in a lay-by, where he subjected her to another horrific assault.
Justice Served After Victim’s Courage
The victim bravely reported the second assault to police at 5:40 am on February 18, 2023. Rowland was arrested the very next day. Besides the 11-year jail term, a court imposed a 10-year restraining order against him.
Florence Winstanley, Investigations Officer for Dorset County CID, praised the victim’s courage. She said, “Rowland used violence in both of the incidents, and this kind of abhorrent offending will not be tolerated. We take reports of sexual offences very seriously and are committed to supporting victims, investigating offences, and bringing offenders such as Rowland to justice.”
