Father Slaughtered After KFC Run in Machete Attack

Two teenagers and a man have been found guilty of brutally killing a father armed with machetes and zombie knives as he left a KFC drive-thru with his son. The gang had targeted the 19-year-old son but turned viciously on his father, Kelvin Ward, when the teen managed to escape.

Chase Ends in Murder Outside KFC

The horror unfolded at 123 Road in Castle Bromwich. Seventeen-year-old Hollywood rammed the car carrying Kelvin and his son in a Ford Kuga as they tried to flee a violent ambush. Despite desperate attempts to escape, their vehicle was repeatedly slammed until airbags deployed, forcing them to stop.

The son ran from the scene, having already faced attacks on their home days earlier. Kelvin was left to face the deadly wrath alone.

Cold-Blooded Killers Caught

Detective Superintendent Shaun Edwards, leading the homicide investigation, said: “This is an absolutely horrific attack on a man who was simply going about his day, ordering a takeaway with his son. The attackers showed ruthless determination as they chased down Kelvin Ward and ultimately killed him.”

At Coventry Crown Court, Hollywood, 17, and Williams, 28, were convicted of murder. Coates, 18, was cleared of murder but found guilty of manslaughter. Williams-Reid, 18, was cleared of both murder and manslaughter. All four were convicted of conspiracy to murder Kelvin’s son.

Family Demands Tougher Knife Crime Sentences

Kelvin’s partner Tammy paid a heartfelt tribute: “Kelvin was the love of my life — a fantastic partner, father, son, and friend. He always helped others and was the life and soul of any party. We didn’t even get to say goodbye. Instead, we were forced to watch horrific videos of his last moments.”

She blasted the killers, saying: “To see the man I love stabbed by savage people then dumped like roadkill is disgraceful. Knife crime is a massive problem in the UK — violence like this is soaring.”

Tammy called for harsher punishments for knife carriers: “We need longer sentences to send a message to young people that life isn’t a game. This tragedy could be anyone’s news tomorrow.”

Sentencing is set for January next year.
