Laura Davis, 21, from Barnet, has been slapped with a fine after flashing a vile racist placard during a protest in central London.
Racist Protester Fined for Hate Speech in Regent Street
Davis appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 30 November. She admitted to racially aggravated threatening and abusive behaviour meant to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
The court fined her £100 and ordered her to pay a £40 victim surcharge plus £85 in costs.
Infamous Placard Sparks Outrage
The offence happened on the evening of Saturday, 28 October, when police stopped Davis in Regent Street. She was part of a breakaway protest group and was caught on CCTV holding a placard reading: “FREE PALESTINE!! ISRA*L BURN IN HELL.”
Police Warn Protesters: Hate Speech Will Not Be Tolerated
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine, who leads policing for upcoming protests, slammed the actions. He said:
“While the right to protest lawfully must be respected, it does not extend to actions or statements that cross the line into criminality.”
“It’s regrettable some protesters carry signs or chant slogans designed to alarm and distress, especially within our Jewish communities.”
“Think carefully about your words. Hate speech and abuse won’t be tolerated. Those who break the rules will face police action and court appearances.”
With tensions high, police are sending a clear message: lawful protest is allowed, but hateful abuse comes with consequences.
