Plymouth Taxi Driver Slapped with 10-Year Sexual Harm Order
Dale Purchase, 29, has been hit with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order after trying to coax a teenager into a sexual act while she was a passenger in his cab.
Guilty of Harassment
Purchase faced Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 4, following a guilty verdict on harassment handed down on November 3. He was given an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for 24 weeks, and slapped with a restraining order banning any contact with the victim.
Police Crackdown on Abuse
Sergeant Tom Ottley said: “We take the fear of violence against women and girls very seriously and work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice while safeguarding victims.”
“The importance of women and girls feeling safe in our society cannot, and should not, be understated.”
Protecting the Vulnerable
“The Sexual Harm Prevention Order carries strict bans designed to stop further offences and keep vulnerable people safe,” Ottley added. “This shows that Devon & Cornwall Police will use every tool available to protect our communities.”
He also praised the victim’s cooperation: “I’d like to commend her engagement with officers, who have been relentless in pursuing justice.”
