Fuel Fraudster Busted After Taking Off Without Paying

Lee Winsley sparked a police hunt after filling his car with £35 worth of petrol and driving off without paying at a West Kingsdown petrol station on the A20 London Road at around 8pm on Friday 8 December 2023.

Police Track Down Vehicle at M25 Service Station

Local patrols were quickly alerted and launched a thorough search. Officers eventually found Winsley’s car parked at Clackett Lane Services on the M25.

Cocaine Seized and Multiple Charges Filed

During the stop, police seized a small amount of cocaine. Winsley, 48, from Staff Road, Aldershot, was detained and arrested not only for the fuel theft but also for failing to appear in court earlier.

He now faces charges of making off without payment, possession of cocaine, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.

Winsley Pleads Guilty, Next Hearing Set for January

Winsley appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 12 December. He pleaded guilty to all offences and was remanded to a hearing at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 2 January 2024.
