Peaky Blinders Star Paul Anderson Caught in Drug Scandal

Paul Anderson, best known as Arthur Shelby from BBC’s hit series Peaky Blinders, has pleaded guilty to drug offences after a police bust. The actor, famed for his tough on-screen persona, faced court on Thursday, January 26, admitting to possession of illegal substances.

Caught with Cocaine and More in Hampstead

Anderson was arrested in Hampstead, London, after police found him with Class A cocaine and drug paraphernalia for smoking. Authorities also discovered a Class B amphetamine and two Class C prescription drugs in his possession.

The drama unfolded when a local pub manager reported smelling crack cocaine coming from the disabled toilet shortly after Anderson’s visit. Police were called and arrested him, later uncovering the drugs during a station search.

Silence in Interview and Positive Drug Tests

During his police interview, Anderson chose to answer ‘no comment’ to all questions. Tests later showed he had cocaine and opiates in his system, contradicting initial suspicions of crack cocaine use.

“He has found himself in an unfortunate position and should have had the strength to say no,” Anderson’s lawyer said, expressing regret over the incident.

Fined Over £1,300 at Highbury Court

The actor was handed a £1,345 fine at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on January 25, following his guilty pleas. The Metropolitan Police confirmed he faced two counts each for possession of Class A and Class C drugs, with the arrest made on December 26, 2023, in Camden, London.

Despite his on-screen grit, Paul Anderson’s real-life run-in with the law shows he’s not untouchable after all.
