Coventry man jailed for slapping elderly neighbour and breaking her hip
Unprovoked attack on 80-year-old
Samir Soloman, 46, from Coventry, has been locked up after violently assaulting his 80-year-old neighbour earlier this year. The shocking incident happened in January on Cambridge Street when Soloman stormed out of his home and hurled an egg at the elderly woman’s house.
Slap causes serious injury
When the pensioner confronted him at his front door, Soloman responded with a vicious slap to her face. The blow sent the woman crashing to the ground and broke her hip, leaving her seriously injured.
Police act swiftly
Officers arrived quickly after being called and arrested Soloman at the scene. During police interviews, he stayed silent and later tried to downplay the attack, claiming he had only shut the door on the woman.
Shock CCTV footage seals his fate
However, CCTV footage told a different story, clearly showing Soloman’s violent assault on the elderly neighbour. Charged with wounding just two days after the attack, Soloman appeared at Warwick Crown Court on May 2 and pleaded guilty.
The judge sentenced him to 16 months behind bars for his disgraceful and brutal behaviour.
