Steve Wright Charged Over 1999 Kidnap and Murder of Victoria Hall
Steve Wright, 66, has been charged with the kidnap and murder of Victoria Hall, who vanished in September 1999. Wright also faces charges of an attempted kidnapping involving another woman around the same time.
Victim Vanished After Nightclub Trip
Victoria Hall, a young woman, disappeared while heading home from a nightclub. Her mysterious case went cold for over 20 years until recent breakthroughs led to Wright’s arrest.
Prosecutor Confirms Court Date
Frank Ferguson, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the East of England, confirmed Suffolk Police authorised the charges. Wright is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on June 3.
Fair Trial Appeal Amid Active Investigation
Ferguson stressed these are active criminal proceedings and Wright has the right to a fair trial. He urged the public and media to avoid sharing potentially prejudicial information online.
