Wembley Man Sentenced for Fatal Stabbing of Tejaswini Kontham
Keven Antonio Lourenco De Morais, 24, from Neeld Crescent, Wembley, has been sentenced for the manslaughter of 27-year-old Tejaswini Kontham. The tragic attack took place on Tuesday, 13 June, when police were called to reports of a stabbing at a residential address in Neeld Crescent.
Victim Dies; Another Woman Injured in Knife Attack
Tejaswini, who hailed from Hyderabad, India, was found at the scene alongside another 28-year-old woman. Both suffered knife wounds. Despite emergency responders’ efforts, Tejaswini tragically died. The second woman survived with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Court Accepts Guilty Plea; Killer Sentenced to Hospital Order
Lourenco De Morais appeared at Isleworth Crown Court on 30 May, admitting manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility. The court accepted his plea. He was handed a hospital order under the Mental Health Act and a restriction order. Notably, he had also pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of the second victim.
Police and Family Speak Out After Devastating Attack
Detective Inspector Louise Caveen of the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command said: “One young woman lost her life, and another will likely never recover from the emotional scars, even when the physical ones have faded. It is right that Lourenco De Morais will now receive treatment, but nothing will bring Tejaswini back to her family. Our thoughts remain with them.”
Shiva Namashivaya, speaking on behalf of Tejaswini’s family, added: “The senseless and sudden way in which Teju was taken from us compounds our sorrow. Her death is an immense loss for our family, and we all miss her dearly.”
